A concerned professional guardian had a client who was fading away.
A professional guardian in Tampa recently had a difficult situation with a ward for whom he was responsible. The ward lived in an assisted living facility in Pinellas County and had become withdrawn and isolated there. With the ward’s 100th birthday approaching, the professional guardian knew that he had to do something soon to improve the quality of life for his ward.
Fortunately, the professional guardian knew the value of professional Aging Life Care services
The guardian contacted Silver Wings and asked Deena Balogh to get involved. Balogh, a certified Aging Life Care Professional, immediately began carrying our a series of actions on behalf of the ward, working on behalf of the ward in her assisted living community to get the client back into a state of inclusion and integration with other residents.
Balogh’s actions included facilitating lunches for the client with old friends and shopping trips. In the words of the professional guardian, “The provided highly customized attention and were keenly aware of and sensitive to her cultural and social interests. ”
The Silver Wings team also took on the role of protector and advocate for the client. They monitored visitors to the client’s room and facilitated communications with the home health agency, making recommendations for gentle quality of life such as ear cleanings and a denture fitting.
A 100th Birthday To Remember
“The team was also instrumental in planning my client’s 100th birthday party, which was complete with catered lunch, entertainment and elegant decor. ‘Liberace’ along with his sidekick made an appearance to entertain the client and her fellow residents” says the professional guardian.
“They also helped to facilitate Skype video conferencing with my Ward’s sister on the other side of the world, an important and timely accomplishment as she passed away only a few short weeks after”, he continued. “I highly recommend, without any reservation, Deena and her team as they consistently demonstrated professionalism and passion for helping my Ward in her last few months of life.”
